Fall-off-the-bone tender ribs coated in a rich, smoky, sweet barbecue sauce! These slow cooker BBQ ribs are so easy to make, and theyβre perfect for Sunday dinner, family gatherings, or whenever youβre craving classic comfort food.
Ingredients:
- 3β4 pounds pork baby back ribs or spare ribs
- 1Β½ cups barbecue sauce
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- Β½ teaspoon black pepper
- Β½ teaspoon salt
- Β½ teaspoon chili powder (optional)
Instructions:
- Prepare the ribs: Remove the thin membrane from the back of the ribs, if needed. Cut the ribs into sections that fit comfortably in your slow cooker.
- Season: In a small bowl, mix the brown sugar, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, salt, and chili powder. Rub the mixture all over the ribs.
- Make the sauce: In another bowl, combine the barbecue sauce, Worcestershire sauce, and apple cider vinegar.
- Add to the crockpot: Arrange the ribs in the slow cooker and pour the barbecue sauce mixture over them, coating them well.
- Slow cook: Cover and cook on LOW for 7β8 hours or HIGH for 4β5 hours, until the ribs are tender. Avoid lifting the lid unnecessarily.
- Make them sticky: Carefully transfer the ribs to a foil-lined baking sheet and brush with extra barbecue sauce. Broil for 3β5 minutes, watching closely, until the sauce bubbles and caramelizes. Alternatively, finish them on a hot grill.
- Serve: Let the ribs rest briefly, then serve with extra BBQ sauce, coleslaw, baked beans, or corn on the cob.
Tip: For the best flavor, use your favorite thick barbecue sauce and finish the ribs under the broiler for that delicious sticky, caramelized coating.
