Ingredients:
4 medium-sized potatoes
500 grams ground beef
1 medium onion, finely chopped
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 cup tomato sauce
1 tablespoon olive oil
Salt and black pepper to taste
1 teaspoon dried thyme
1 teaspoon red chili flakes (optional)
1 cup shredded cheese (such as mozzarella or cheddar)
Instructions:
Prepare the Potatoes:
Peel and slice the potatoes into thin rounds.
Boil the potato slices in hot water for about 5 minutes, until partially cooked.
Drain the potatoes well and set them aside.
Cook the Ground Beef:
In a pan over medium heat, heat the olive oil.
Add the chopped onion and garlic, and sauté until the onion softens.
Add the ground beef and cook until browned.
Add the tomato sauce, salt, black pepper, thyme, and optional chili flakes. Mix well.
Let the mixture simmer for 10 minutes.
Layer the Casserole:
In a baking dish, place a layer of the boiled potatoes at the bottom.
Add a layer of the ground beef mixture over the potatoes.
Repeat the layers until all the ingredients are used up.
Bake:
Sprinkle the shredded cheese on top of the final layer.
Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) for 30 minutes.
After 30 minutes, remove the foil and bake for another 10-15 minutes until the cheese is golden and bubbly.
Serve:
Remove the dish from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
Tips:
You can add your favorite vegetables like carrots or green beans for extra flavor.
For a spicier version, you can add finely chopped chili peppers.
Enjoy your delicious meal!
