This naan is incredibly soft, pillowy, and perfectly chewy, with a beautiful puff as it cooks. Made without yeast and using baking powder, this gluten-free version is ready in just 45 minutes! Plus, it’s also egg-free!

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups gluten-free all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 3/4 cup warm water (more if needed)
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh herbs (like cilantro or parsley)
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter (for brushing)

Instructions:

  1. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together the gluten-free flour, baking powder, salt, and garlic powder.
  2. Add Wet Ingredients: Add olive oil and warm water to the dry ingredients and mix until a dough forms. The dough should be soft but not sticky. If it’s too dry, add a little more water, one tablespoon at a time.
  3. Knead: On a lightly floured surface (use gluten-free flour), knead the dough for about 2-3 minutes until smooth and pliable.
  4. Roll Dough: Divide the dough into 6-8 equal portions. Roll each portion into a ball and then flatten it with your hands or a rolling pin into a round or oval shape.
  5. Cook the Naan: Heat a large non-stick skillet or griddle over medium-high heat. Place one naan on the skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes until bubbles form on the surface. Flip and cook the other side for 2-3 more minutes until lightly golden.
  6. Brush with Butter: Once cooked, brush the naan with melted butter and sprinkle with fresh herbs. Repeat with the remaining pieces.
