Cheese Bread

Introduction
This Cheese Bread has been a family favorite for 20 years! Perfect for breakfast, it’s soft, cheesy, and pairs wonderfully with a cup of coffee or tea. The cheese adds a rich flavor, while the butter makes it wonderfully soft. Easy to make and incredibly satisfying, this recipe never fails.

Ingredients

  • 1 teaspoon salt (5 grams)
  • 300 milliliters water (about 1 1/5 cups)
  • 420 grams flour (approximately 2 2/3 cups), plus 1 additional tablespoon
  • 100 grams cheddar cheese, grated
  • 100 grams butter, melted

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix together the flour and salt.
  2. Gradually add the water, stirring to combine, until a dough begins to form.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Add in the melted butter and grated cheddar cheese, kneading until fully incorporated.
  5. Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rise for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  6. Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
  7. Punch down the dough and shape it into a loaf or small rolls, placing it onto a baking tray.
  8. Let the dough rise again for about 20-30 minutes.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown on top.
  10. Let it cool slightly before slicing and enjoying!
