Banana Bread Brownies

Ingredients

For the brownies:

½ cup unsalted butter, melted

1 cup granulated sugar

1 large egg

1 tsp vanilla extract

1 cup mashed ripe bananas (about 2–3 bananas)

1 cup all-purpose flour

½ tsp baking powder

¼ tsp salt

½ tsp ground cinnamon

½ cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)

For the brown butter glaze:

4 tbsp unsalted butter

1½ cups powdered sugar

2–3 tbsp milk

1 tsp vanilla extract

Pinch of salt

Instructions

Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper and lightly grease it.

In a bowl, whisk together the melted butter and sugar.

Add the egg, vanilla, and mashed bananas. Mix until smooth.

In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon.

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the banana mixture. Stir just until combined. Fold in nuts if using.

Spread the batter evenly into the prepared pan.

Bake for 25–30 minutes, until the edges are lightly golden and a toothpick comes out with a few moist crumbs.

Make the glaze: Melt the butter in a small saucepan over medium heat. Continue cooking until it turns golden brown and smells nutty. Remove from heat.

Whisk in powdered sugar, milk, vanilla, and salt until smooth and creamy. Add a little more milk if needed.

Spread the warm glaze over the slightly cooled brownies.

Let the glaze set, then cut into squares and serve. 🍌🤎

Tip: Use very ripe, spotty bananas for the richest banana flavor and a naturally moist texture.
