Recipe: Pot Roast With Gravy (Slow Cooker Style)
Ingredients:
- 1.5–2 kg beef chuck roast (pot roast)
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- Salt and black pepper
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1 tsp dried thyme
- 4–5 garlic cloves (minced)
- 1 large onion (sliced)
- 4–5 potatoes (halved)
- 3–4 carrots (cut into large pieces)
- 2 cups beef broth
- 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 2 tbsp tomato paste
- 2 tbsp flour (for gravy)
Instructions:
- Season the beef generously with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and thyme.
- Sear the roast in hot olive oil until browned on all sides.
- Place onions, potatoes, and carrots in a slow cooker.
- Add the browned roast on top.
- Mix beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, garlic, and tomato paste, then pour over the meat.
- Cook on LOW for 8–9 hours or HIGH for 4–5 hours until the beef is very tender.
- Remove the roast and vegetables.
- For the gravy, mix some cooking liquid with flour and simmer until thick and smooth.
- Pour the rich gravy over the pot roast and serve warm.
Result: tender beef that falls apart, with soft vegetables and a deep homemade gravy. 🍖🥔🥕
