Cathead Biscuits with Chocolate Gravy

Ingredients
For the Biscuits:
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
½ teaspoon salt
⅓ cup cold shortening or butter
¾ cup buttermilk

For the Chocolate Gravy:
1 cup sugar
3 tablespoons cocoa powder
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
2 cups milk
2 tablespoons butter
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions
Preheat oven to 450°F (232°C).
Mix flour, baking powder, and salt. Cut in shortening until crumbly.
Stir in buttermilk just until the dough comes together.
Drop large “cathead-sized” spoonfuls onto a baking sheet.
Bake 12–15 minutes until golden.

For the chocolate gravy, whisk sugar, cocoa, and flour in a saucepan.
Slowly add milk and cook over medium heat, stirring until thickened.
Remove from heat, stir in butter and vanilla.
Serve warm biscuits smothered in chocolate gravy.
